What a Surprise!!!!
My Card was Published!!!!

(Poor quality Photo. Sorry!!!)
Well what a SURPRISE!!!! I submitted this card to the Cardmaking Magazine in March 2011, they emailed back & said they would like to have it in their magazine, I sent it in for photography, & that was
13 months ago.  One of my students in one of my Card classes told me this card was  in the current issue. Well I didn't believe her & went out & purchased the magazine & much to my surprise, there it was on page 93. Now I realise these things take time, but 13months. I had long given up hope & thought it was never going to happen. I don't even have the card anymore  to photograph to put on my blog. I have actually photographed the page out of the magazine & just cropped it. Hence it isn't a very good quality photo. I didn't hear from them to say it was in a certain issue etc. So you can imagine my surprise!!!
Isn't it wonderful to get such a lovely surprise like this. I might start sending in some more submissions of cards now that my faith has been restored!!!
Just had to share my little story. Thanks for stoppin by.
Until next time.   Cheers Di  xo

The Color Room Challenge #107
"Simply Because You Are My Son"

Hi everyone. I have just finished my layout for challenge #107 over at The Color Room. I only saw the colour palette on Tuesday night & I just knew I had to join in. I had these photos of my youngest son that I hadn't scrapped yet & I thought these colours were just perfect.
Now I have also used the sketch quite "loosely", but hey, thats OK too. I have to say, I don't think this is my best work, but time was not on my side & I just had to get it done!!!
I have used all sorts of bits & pieces including corrugated card, hessian, clocks, envelopes, one of the NEW Dusty Attic chipboard compasses, string , chipboard chicken wire & a Tim Holtz Film Strip.
I have distressed all of my edges (I can't seem to do a page lately without distressing, I do love distressing), sewn around the red background, stamped & thrown some paint around. I actually had to come to work early this morning to get it finished & photographed before I started work. Phew!!! Glad thats done. Thanks so much for stoppin by. Until next time.
Cheers Di  xo

White With 1 April Challenge
"Dream"

Hello everyone. I've just finished my layout for this months White With 1 Challenge. This months criteria is "white + grey + tags". I have to say that I do soooo love this colour pallette. I think it has a real classy look . I have used my favourite photos of my God Daughter when she was about eight months pregnant. I have scrapped these photos before but I do so love them. Now I have just done an online series of classes over at "Miss Arts Papercraft" School with the amazingly talented "Solange Marques". My God, what this woman can do with paints & mediums is absolutely incredible!!! She is a true artist.
Now my background paper started its life as a piece of black paper with white script on it. You would never know that to look at it now. This technique Solange calls "fusion". Where you fuse your photo & page into one & blur the edge. Now this is my first attempt on my own with this technique & although I know I need loads of practice still, as it is not as easy as it looks, I am rather pleased with the results. It probably doesn't look like it but there is hours of work in the background alone, before you even start on your layout!!! And you know what, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I do love to step out of my comfort zone from time to time.
Along the lower edge of my layout I have used yet another technique she taught in these classes & I thought it all really lent itself to my layout. Isn't it wonderful when you learn a whole lot of new things. I have been using all of these various mediums, various mists & loads of paints,  but this is using them in a totally different way & I am really happy with the outcome.
I have tucked my tags, four in total,  tied together, in behind the main photo. I took inspiration for this idea of tying them together from the lovely Heather Jacob. Thanks Heather, I thought this was a great idea. I have done loads of edge distressing, as always, I do so love the shabbiness of distressing. I have also used lots of lovely Green Tara flowers & lace. Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you like my layout, until next time.    Cheers Di  xoxo

The Color Room Challenge #106
"Beauty"

Hello fellow bloggers, I hope you are all having a great day. I  just wanted to show you my layout  I have just finished  for challenge #106 over at The Color room. This weeks colour pallette was lovely soft pastels that really appealed to me & so I thought I would join in. I have also "loosely" followed the sketch, but without the circles.
Now I have had a real lot of fun with my background paper, which started its life as yellow & white stripes!!! I have used Gesso, stencilling, misting, more Gesso, more mist & finally finished off doing this lovely shade of yellow paint around the edges.
Now I can't take the all the credit for this background as I have just signed up at  "Miss Arts Papercrafting" school as I want to learn the techniques that the lovely Solange Marques  uses & she is teaching a class their at the moment. I haven't actually had time to sit down & do the class but I have watched a few bits of it here & there  & I have incorporated how she uses paint on some of her backgrounds. I am really pleased with this yellow paint, applying it the way she advocates. I hope I got it right Solange!!! I will actually sit down on the weekend & do the actual class instead of just skipping through it because I haven't had any spare time....
On my background,  as well as all of the above, I have also distressed the edges, sewn, used rub ons & stamped. I have used a mixture of flowers,  although most are Green Tara as is the nice little pink trim I have used also. Lastly I have finished off with this sweet little chipboard word from 2 Crafty.
Thanks for stoppin by. Until next time.
Cheers Di  xoxo

YEAH!!!!! I was "Featured at CSI #14

Wohoo I am sooooo happy. I just found out I was "featured" in the top five over at CSI again this week. I was over the moon last challenge, but wowsers, I am blown away by being "featured"  in  two out of three challenges & making it onto the "Most Wanted" list again. Thanks you so very much CSI. Thank you,  thank you,  thank you. I do so love this challenge, it really makes you think. Here is the lovely little piece they wrote about my layout.     Di  xoxo

Di's layout is just divine! How sweet is that sleeping babe guarded by the rose fairy! There are so many beautiful touches on this page, the flowers, the delicate butterflies, the lovely lace, the layers of distressed papers, the beautiful misting.  We love how Di designed her page to have all those lovely details cradling the sweet baby, and the colors couldn't have been more perfect for those pictures. Di has truly created a treasure!

CSI Challenge #14 "Treasured Memories"

Hello blogland friends. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Just finished my layout for challenge #14 over at CSI. As always the criteria was amazing. See below for details.
For my Evidence I have used :
1.  Ruffles.....I have gathered some printed tissue paper which I firstly inked to match the layout.
2.  Animal Accent..... I have punched some butterflies.
3   Wet Medium.....I have used Glimmermist, Gesso, inks & paints.
4.  Sanding.....I have sanded the edges of my photos.
For the Testimony criteria I have :
1.  Journalled..... "Looking Forward"
2.  Used the Inspiration Words in my Journalling..."Innocence & Time". (I have tucked the Journalling Tag in behind the photos as I was running out of room!!)

Now I am really happy with my layout as I have used some things out of my stash that I have been saving up & coveting!! You know how it is, you just keep hanging onto certain items!!! I just adore this fairy & I just needed the right layout to use it on & I think this was it. I've fussy cut it & layered it up over my photo.
This photo was given to me by a friend, thanks Jamie. She had it taken by a local photographer JasArt Photographic Art. This girl takes fabulous photos of babies, I actually scrapped another that the same friend gave me of her daughter  a few weeks back which you may remember. She puts wings & all sorts of other gorgeous things on them. Such beautiful photos.
As always I have also used lots of yummy Green Tara flowers, including one of the NEW fabric flowers as well as some of their Rosebuds. I have also used some Green Tara lace,  Trim & the big bow is one of their NEW crinkled satin edge organza ribbons. It makes lovely bows.
I have also tucked some very pale link feathers into the bottom of my cluster & some tiny pearl sprays & a sweet little Toadstool as well. Lastly I have finished off with a 2 Crafty chippie word that I have painted & Glimmermisted.
Sorry I have included so many close ups, I guess I just got carried away, but I do loooove this photo & the fairy!!!!
Well thats about all, I do hope you like it. Until next time.
Thanks for stoppin by.   Cheers Di  xoxo

CSI Challenge #12 "Just You"

YEAH!!!!! I WAS "FEATURED" AT CSI
" Di's layout is stunning! The photo is absolutely precious, and we love the mix of elegance with the touch of whimsy Di added with the balloons, feathers, and curvy branches. The distressing is gorgeous, and it really shows off the punched border at the top. The composition of Di's page is beautiful, and the touches of black are just striking!"....CSI

Thanks CSI For "Featuring" me
in the Top Five this week...Di  xo.
I have to stop doing this, I've JUST finished my layout for challenge #12 over at the CSI blog, with just over 1 hour  to the deadline!!!! This is crazy. I have been soooo busy these past few weeks I didn't think I would have time to enter, but last night about 9pm I thought , hey you can do it, & so I have burst a valve to get it done on time. I am at work today too I must add, so all things considered I am happy with myself. I had to join in this week as green is my favourite colour, especially this kind of pallette.
For my "Evidence" I have used three things,
1. Hot Air Balloons, 2. Flowers & 3. For something Fluffy I used some  black feathers.
For my Testimony I have taken inspiration from the word "Magic" & made up a little quote,
"The Magic Of You".
I have stayed true to the colours. I have used Gesso on my background, distressed all of my edges & done a bit of border punching as well. All these gorgeous flowers I have used are from  "Green Tara" of course. The big aqua one at the centre of my cluster is one of their NEW fabric flowers & I have just been dying to use it.
I have also used lots of "2 Crafty" chipboard including this gorgeous flourish, frame, butterfly & words.
Well thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you like my layout.
Until next time.   Cheers Di  xoxo
